C ontemporary Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products and heat embossing.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Parakeet Party Cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 3" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-3/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 2-3/4" from Basic White Cardstock
Insert the Crumb Cake rectangle into the embossing folder included with the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle across the 4" x 5-1/4" white rectangle so it is about 1/2" from the top.
Adhere the white rectangle with dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle attached to the front of the Parakeet Party card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Beauty Of Friendship Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the large, more solid evergreen tree image from the Beauty Of Friendship Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Parakeet Party Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical white 2-3/4" x 3" rectangle so it is slightly closer to the top and slightly closer to the left edge.
Allow the stamped tree image to dry for a minute or two. Then, rub the Embossing Buddy included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit all over the stamped white rectangle.
Mount the large, more detailed evergreen tree image from the Beauty Of Friendship Set on Block D. Ink it up with the VersaMark Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped tree image.
Mount the small splatter image from the Beauty Of Friendship Set on Block A. Ink it up with the VersaMark Ink Pad. Stamp it around the top of the stamped tree image a couple of times remembering to re-ink the image each time.
Lay the VersaMark stamped rectangle in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some white powder from the Basics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the whole rectangle. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Coastal Cabana Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub some of the ink off onto Grid Paper. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush over the left and center of the heat embossed and stamped white rectangle. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Make sure you have a piece of Grid Paper under the cardstock to protect your work surface.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Use a clean tissue or paper towel to rub off excess ink puddled on top of the heat embossed images.
Use your fingers to tear the 1-1/4" x 2-3/4" white strip lengthwise so it is slightly higher on the left side and slopes down toward the right side.
Adhere the torn strip of white cardstock to the bottom of the heat embossed and blended white rectangle.
Adhere the heat embossed and blended white rectangle with torn strip attached to the front of the card so it is centered over the dry embossed Crumb Cake strip and is about 1/2" from the left edge.
Mount the "'tis the season" sentiment from the Christmas To Remember Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Parakeet Party Ink Pad. Stamp it on the remaining white strip in the center.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the sentiment by hand. Be sure to leave about 1/2" of white sticking out to the left side of the sentiment.
Cut a 17" piece of the Parakeet Party twine from the 2022-2024 In Color Baker's Twine Pack.
Fold the twine in half.
Wrap the folded twine around the white space at the left end of the sentiment cut out and tie in place with a small bow. Trim the ends.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment cut out with twine bow attached to the front of the card as shown so it is about 1/8" from the bottom of the Crumb Cake layer and the line between the green and white part of the sentiment strip is centered over the right edge of the tree rectangle.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large and 2 small Parakeet Party dots from the sheet of 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown just below the Crumb Cake layer on the right side with the large dot in the center and the two small dots evenly spaced on either side of it.
