S uper sweet birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Melon Mambo Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/2" from Blushing Bride Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 4" of pink cupcakes and candy jars on darker pink background design from How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper, cut so the cupcakes and jars are pointing up when the paper is horizontal across the 3-7/8" side
- 2" x 3-7/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2" x 3-7/8" from Melon Mambo Cardstock
- 1-7/8" x 3-3/4" from Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets
- 3 squares each 2" square from Blushing Bride Cardstock
- 2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2-3/4" of Whisper White Cardstock
Lightly spray the large Blushing Bride rectangle with water. This will help you get a deeper impression when you dry emboss it.
Insert the damp Blushing Bride rectangle into the Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Set the dry embossed cardstock aside to let it dry thoroughly.
Tip: You can use a Heat Tool to speed up drying if you wish.
Carefully peel up the protective backing on one side of the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet piece and adhere the adhesive sheet to one side of the Melon Mambo strip. Leave the other protective backing piece in place.
Place the piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot so that the adhesive side (with protective backing in place) is on the bottom (Melon Mambo facing up).
Pick out the set of three cupcakes edgelit from the Detailed Birthday Edgelits. Place it on top of the Melon Mambo Cardstock on the Big Shot. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. LEAVE THE PROTECTIVE BACKING IN PLACE FOR NOW! CAREFULLY REMOVE ALL THE LITTLE BITS USING A DELICATE TOUCH WITH THE BIG SHOT DIE BRUSH OR USING THE PAPER-PIERCING ATTACHMENT ON THE TAKE YOUR PICK. Keep the set of three cupcakes edgelit out for use on a later step. Keep the tiny interior piece of the cherry and the tiny heart.
Pick out the solid cupcake framelit from the Detailed Birthday Edgelits. One at a time, place a square of Blushing Bride Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the solid cupcake framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Repeat until you have cut out three pink cupcakes. Keep the framelit out for use in the next step.
Place the square of Whisper White Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the solid cupcake framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Cut the top (the frosting) off of ONE of the pink cupcakes and keep only the bottom portion. Leave the other two pink cupcakes whole.
As you are ready to stamp using the Hello Cupcake Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Place a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the sprinkles image from the Hello Cupcake Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Melon Mambo Ink Pad. Stamp it on the frosting on all three of the cupcakes (two pink and one white). Stamp some of the images again without re-inking. Get more ink on the stamp as needed. Make sure not to stamp below the frosting line. Clean the stamp with the Simply Shammy or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and put it away for now.
Adhere the pink cupcake base to the bottom of the stamped white cupcake.
Peel the protective backing off the back of the Melon Mambo set of 3 cupcakes cut out.
Carefully adhere the two pink cupcakes to the back of the cupcakes on the sides of the Melon Mambo set of 3 cupcakes cut out. Carefully adhere the pink and white cupcake to the back of the cupcake in the center of the Melon Mambo Set of 3 cupcakes cut out.
Put SNAIL on the back of the set of 3 cupcakes cut out and adhere it to the 2" x 3-7/8" white rectangle. Trim off any excess cardstock along the bottom edge as needed.
Peel the protective backing off the back of the Melon Mambo, tiny, interior cherry cut out. Adhere it to the inside of the cherry on the top of the cupcake on the left.
Use the fine tip of the Crumb Cake Marker to color in the stem on the cherry on top of the cupcake on the left.
Peel the protective backing off the back of the Melon Mambo, tiny, heart cut out. Adhere it to the inside of the heart on the top of the cupcake on the right.
Adhere the white rectangle with cupcakes adhered to it to the piece of How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper so it is about 1/2" from the top.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the designer paper/cardstock rectangle so it covers the bottom seam between the designer paper and the Melon Mambo base of the set of 3 cupcakes cut out. Flip the rectangle over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the designer paper rectangle. Adhere it to the center of the dry embossed Blushing Bride rectangle.
Adhere the dry embossed Blushing Bride rectangle to the front of the Melon Mambo card.
Mount the sentiment of your choice from the Hello Cupcake Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Melon Mambo Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining smaller white rectangle.
Pick out the tag framelit from the Detailed Birthday Edgelits. Place the stamped sentiment on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the tag framelit on top so it is centered over the sentiment and the top of the tag is on the left side. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Mount the sprinkles image from the Hello Cupcake Set on Block B again. Ink it up with the Blushing Bride Ink Pad. Stamp it all over the tag. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Adhere the tag to the card front at an angle so the top of the tag is just below the center of the center cupcake and the hole in the top of the tag is on the ribbon.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the top of the tag at a slight angle.
Use the sticky putty end of the Take Your Pick tool to pick up three different-sized, silver sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and adhere them to the front of the card using dots of Fine-Tip Glue or Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Adhere the largest sequin to the top of the center cupcake and adhere the other two randomly to the card front.
Tip: Pull straight up to remove the cap on the end of the Take Your Pick tool putty end. If the putty is no longer tacky, snip it off the end of the tool and give the base of the putty dispenser a twist to dispense more putty.
