M asculine birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Copper Clay Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of stars scattered across dark blue background design from O Holy Night 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1" x 7" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1/2" x 4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-1/4" square from Crumb Cake Cardstock
Unlock the Banners Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Crumb Cake strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the inward notch) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the On The Ocean Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched Crumb Cake strip so the notch is on the left side and the sentiment is closer to the notch.
Adhere the stamped, punched sentiment strip to the top of the horizontal O Holy Night Designer Paper rectangle so it is about 1/2" from the top and there is about 1" of the strip between the right side of the sentiment and the right side of the designer paper. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess cardstock on the right edge.
Adhere the designer paper with sentiment strip attached to the front of the Copper Clay card.
Mount the ship's wheel image from the On The Ocean Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Copper Clay Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Crumb Cake square.
Pick out the matching, open ship's wheel die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the stamped ship's wheel on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the ship's wheel cut out to the front of the card so it is centered over the blank space to the right of the sentiment on the sentiment strip.
Mount the long cloud image from the On The Ocean Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the thin white strip. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp the image again on the other end of the white strip. Leave room between the images to cut them out.
Pick out the open, long, skinny cloud die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of one of the cloud images on the white strip on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Repeat with the other cloud image.
Adhere the lighter cloud image cut out to the front of the card so the right end is about 3/4" from the right edge of the card and the bottom is about 7/8" from the bottom of the card.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the darker cloud image cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the bottom of the lighter cloud a bit and the left edge is about 7/8" from the left edge of the card and the bottom is about 1/2" from the bottom of the card. Make sure to leave the top of the cloud on the left side free of adhesive so you an tuck the ship image underneath in a later step.
Mount the sailing ship image from the On The Ocean Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Copper Clay Ink Pad. BEFORE STAMPING, use the brush tip of the Pebbled Path Stampin' Write Marker to color over the ship itself, the bowsprit, and the bits of mast showing between and above the sails. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the center of the large Crumb Cake rectangle.
Pick out the matching, open ship die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the stamped ship on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Use the fine-tip of the Pebbled Path Stampin' Write Marker to color over the bowsprit and outline the boat itself and add some shadow lines to the front and back edges of the boat.
Adhere the colored ship cut out to the front of the card so the base of the boat itself is tucked under the top left side of the darker cloud cut out as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one small copper dot from the sheet of Brushed Metallic Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the ship's wheel image on the card front.
