Let's Set Sail Best Day Sailboat |
F un birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Daffodil Delight Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Coastal Cabana Cardstock
- 3" x 3-7/8" of silver stripes on white background design from Silver & Gold 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, cut so the stripes are horizontal on the horizontal rectangle
- 3-1/4" square from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 2" x 3-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Coastal Cabana Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub some of the ink off onto Grid Paper. Rub the inky Blending Brush over the silver stripes designer paper rectangle until it is completely covered. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
As you are ready to stamp using the Let's Set Sail Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the group of little birds image from the Let's Set Sail Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the vertical Coastal Cabana rectangle.
Adhere the piece of blended silver stripes designer paper to the bottom of the stamped Coastal Cabana rectangle so about 1/8" of Coastal Cabana cardstock shows on the bottom, left, and right edges.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the cardstock/designer paper rectangle so it hides the seam between the pieces. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Coastal Cabana rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the front of the Daffodil Delight card.
Mount the "Hope it's your Best. Day. Ever." sentiment from the Let's Set Sail Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabna Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square near the bottom, leaving room to cut it out.
Pick out the square die that cuts out a 2" square from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is near the bottom and centered side to side. Run through the machine.
Pick out the circle die that cuts out a 3" circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Put it on top of the Daffodil Delight square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Adhere the cut out circle to the top of the sentiment square cut out so it is centered side to side.
Adhere the layered sentiment square and circle dies to the front of the card so they are centered side to side and slightly closer to the top.
Mount the sailboat hull and mast image from the Let's Set Sail Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the bottom of the vertical Crumb Cake rectangle so the hull of the boat is at the bottom.
Unlock the Sailboat Builder Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped hull and mast boat image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the hull and mast punch out to the front of the card so it is centered in the circle cut out.
Mount the smaller, curved sail image from the Let's Set Sail Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom of the vertical 1-1/2" x 4" white strip so the point at the top of the sail is pointing up.
Hold the unlocked Sailboat Builder Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped sail image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Keep the punched out sail and the rest of the white strip. Leave the punch unlocked.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sail punch out to the front side of the boat on the card.
Mount the larger, more triangular sail image from the Let's Set Sail Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the remaining 1-1/2" x 4" white strip so the point at the top of the sail is pointing down.
Hold the unlocked Sailboat Builder Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped sail image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sail punch out to the back side of the boat on the card.
