H andmade treat bags for Halloween using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut 2 pieces each to 4-3/4" x 5-1/4" of matching cardstock. (I used Orchid Oasis, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Garden Green).
Pick out the half bag die from the Tricks & Treats Dies. Put it on top of one of the cardstock rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Repeat with the other cardstock rectangle.
If you want to put a small notched border along the bottom of a bag, then cut a piece of cardstock (I used Pumpkin Pie) to 1" x 5". Cut a piece of Adhesive Sheets to 7/8" x 4-7/8".
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the cardstock rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the notched die from the Tricks & Treats Dies. Put it on top of the cardstock rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the cardstock side is face up and it is as close as possible to one long edge. Run through the machine. Repeat with the other long edge of the cardstock. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the notched borders loose and cut them down a bit as needed.
Peel off the protective backings and adhere the notched strip cut outs to the bottoms of the half bag cut outs just above the bottom flaps. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess notched strips on the ends.
As you are ready to stamp using the Tricks & Treats Set, place the cardstock or specialty paper on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the "EEK!" sentiment, "trick or treat" sentiment, small ghost, line of tombstones, group of stars, or group of bats image on an appropriate size block. Ink them up with an appropriate ink (I used Orchid Oasis, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, or Tuxedo Black Memento Ink) and stamp them on the treat bag halves as desired. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Let some of the images go off the edges. Change the orientation of the stamp a bit each time. Clean the stamps between different colors using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy.
Fold the stamped half bag cut outs along all score lines. Use the Bone Folder to get sharp creases.
Put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the thin flaps on the ends of the half bag cut outs. Remove the protective backings and adhere the half bag cut outs together to form an open rectangular tube.
Fold the bottom flaps in to form the bottom of the bag. Use strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the edges of the big flaps to hold everything together. Use a Bone Folder to firmly press the bottom flaps together from inside the bag.
Use your fingers to pinch the top long edges of the bag together and form slight creases along the sides.
Use the handheld circle punch to punch two holes through the top of the pinched shut bag so they are about 1/2" from the top of the bag and about 3/4" apart.
If you want to stamp images or sentiments on Glow-In-The-Dark Specialty Paper, I highly recommend that you punch or cut out the shape you want to stamp on FIRST! Then, ink up the sentiment or image you want to stamp using the appropriate block and color of ink and stamp it on the punch or cut out on the Glow-In-The Dark (rougher) side. Set the image/sentiment aside to allow it to dry. Try to avoid touching the inky areas as it will smear! Clean stamps between colors of ink using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy.
If you are just stamping on cardstock, then stamp your image first using an appropriate size block and ink. Then, pick out the matching die from the Tricks & Treats Dies and cut the image out using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Clean stamps between colors of ink using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy.
If you are just using unstamped Glow-In-The-Dark Specialty Paper, pick out the die from the Tricks & Treats Dies and cut the image out using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure to put Adhesive Sheets on the back of the Glow-In-The-Dark Paper (the smoother side) for the word "boo" before cutting it out.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the small pieces of cut out candy corn stripes to the larger Glow-In-The-Dark candy corn piece.
Lay stamped and punched out/cut out images on top of the front of your bag to figure out placement and spacing. Then, adhere everything except "EEK!" tags in place using Stampin' Seal, Adhesive Sheets, or Stampin' Dimensionals in the appropriate sizes.
Fill the bags with treats.
Cut a 7" piece of the Calypso Coral 3/16" Braided Linen Trim so it has a sharp angle on each end. Feed the ends of the ribbon through both of the holes at the top of the bag from the front side. Cross the ribbons over and feed them back through the opposite holes. Use a floss threader if needed to help you get the ribbon through the holes without having it unravel. Use a half knot to hold the ribbon in place and keep the bag closed. If you are using an "EEK!" tag, thread it onto the ribbon one one side before tying the half knot. Trim the ends of the ribbon.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up glow-in-the-dark bats or ghosts as desired from the sheet of Glow-In-The-Dark Bats & Ghosts making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the bag as desired.
