T
he Trusty Tools bundle has so many fun pieces to play with. The first thing I did when I got the set, was to die cut all the pieces and see how they go together. It gave me an idea of what colors to use and what tools they make.
With a change of sentiment and embellishments, you can easily make this card a Valentine, Birthday, Father's Day, Thank You card, etc. Use your imagination!
For this pegboard card, I wanted to use the wrench and file. I also created a tabletop for the tape measure and drill to sit on.
Project Recipe
Measurements of Materials
5 ½” x 8 ½” Crumb Cake Cardstock (CS) Scored at 4 ¼”
5 ¼” x 4” Crumb Cake CS
1 ¼” x 3 1/4” White CS
½” x 5 ¼” Crumb Cake CS
Scraps of Boho Blue, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Real Red, Silver, Crumb Cake, and Crushed Curry cardstock to make the tools and decorative hearts.
Cut and Score all pieces. Die Cut all pieces for tools
Assembling the Front of the card
• Die Cut the 5 ¼” x 4” Crumb Cake CS twice to make the peg board.
• Die Cut two of the drill body in Boho Blue and once in Night of Navy.
• Die Cut the tip of the drill once in silver and once in Night of Navy.
• You’ll cut the pieces to create layers and dimension to the drill.
• Die Cut the wrench and the pencil form out using silver paper to create the tool bundle on the left.
• Wrap the tool bundle with a scrap of the Crushed Curry CS.
• Die Cut the tape measure out in the Smoky Slake CS.
• Die Cut the small tape measure pieces from silver paper.
• Die Cut the tip of the tape measure out from the Crushed Curry CS.
• Assemble the tape measure creating layers and dimension.
• The tag is cut out of white or very vanilla CS and stamp with Real Red Ink.
• Add the bolt heads to make it appear to be the way the sign is hung.
• Use dimensionals to pop up the ½” x 5 1/4” piece of Crumb Cake CS to look like a workshop table.
• Place the screw (or more), tape measure, and drill on the workshop table. I only added dimensionals under drill since it is a heavier tool than the others.
Inside the Card
• Stamp the inside sentiment(s) and any decorations onto the inside of the card base and the envelope.
Use your imagination to embellish as desired. I added hearts from the Bee My Valentine die set.
