Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Mossy Meadow Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3" x 4" of mottled green background from World Of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 4-1/2" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3-1/2" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Mount the large magnolia blossom surrounded by leaves image from the Good Morning Magnolia Set on Block F. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the large, horizontal vanilla rectangle as shown.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the stamped vanilla rectangle on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Light So Saffron Stampin' Blends to color in the center of the magnolia flower and add some light lines of color to the creases and shadows on the flower petals.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to blend the yellow lines and soften them.
Use the Light Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends to color in the leaves.
Use the Dark and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the stem.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Pick out the long, thin, solid, scalloped-edge die from the Magnolia Memory Dies. Put it on top of the World Of Good Specialty Designer Paper on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it will cut off about 1/4" from one short edge. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Put the long, thin, solid, scalloped-edge die on top of the So Saffron rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it will cut off about 1" from one long edge. Run through the machine.
Adhere the cut designer paper to the cut So Saffron piece so the cut edges line up and about 3/16" of yellow shows. Use Paper Snips to trim off excess So Saffron cardstock on the edges.
Adhere the layered designer paper/cardstock to the stamped and colored large vanilla rectangle so it covers the left side and overlaps the stem and bottom leaf of the stamped magnolia flower a bit.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of Mossy Meadow 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Lay the trim across the designer paper/cardstock about 3/4" from the right edge of the So Saffron cut layer. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the trim over. Adhere the ends of the trim in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the vanilla rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Mossy Meadow card.
Mount the "thanks," "hello," or "thinking of you" sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of one end of the vanilla strip, leaving room to punch it out.
Unlock the Timeless Label Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Adhere the sentiment punch out to the front of the card so it overlaps the cut ends of the designer paper and So Saffron layers as shown and overlaps the bottom of the stamped magnolia flower and the left end of the punch out is tucked under the trim on the card front.
Mount the single magnolia bud image from the Good Morning Magnolia Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Very Vanilla square.
Pick out the single bud die from the Magnolia Memory Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bud image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the bud image is centered. Run through the machine.
Place the magnolia bud image on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Light So Saffron Stampin' Blends to add some light lines of color to the creases and shadows on the flower petals.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to blend the yellow lines and soften them.
Use the Light Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends to color in the leaves and flower bracket.
Use the Dark and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the stem.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the magnolia bud image to the front of the card so it overlaps the bottom right corner of the sentiment punch out.
Cut a 2-1/2" piece of the Mossy Meadow 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Slide one end of the trim piece under the trim already on the card front. Tie in place with a half knot so it is centered over the left end of the sentiment punch out. Trim the ends.
